FSC return to sailing update

Hi all,

Following the announcement on Thursday to relax the 5-mile travel restriction we hope that more of you will now feel confident to return your boat to Forfar Loch and resume some sailing. A few of our more local members have been out on Tuesday evenings and Thursday afternoons and report some great conditions on the loch.

A copy of the Club’s updated plan for Phase 2 which is effective from today, is attached. Not much change yet but we are very much looking forward to moving to Phase 3 when we hope to be able to resume Club organised activities in some form. We won’t know the exact details until the government’s announcement but your committee are in regular contact to review the guidelines and plan how we can move safely to organised sailing.

For the time being, in line with government and RYA guidance, access to the club buildings remains limited. Notices are in place to remind us and hand sanitiser is available. Please take care to keep yourself and others safe. If you have any comments or suggestions for improvement please get in touch with Tony Walker or myself directly.

Any members who still have a boat stored at the tattie shed should contact Tony directly to arrange access.

If you haven’t already done so, then we would encourage you to please pay your membership fee. As you will be aware the Club is liable for certain fixed costs such as rent, insurance and maintenance that still require to be paid. It is unlikely that we will be able to generate our usual income by providing catering at events this season, so we are heavily reliant on membership fees to cover these costs.

The quickest and easiest way to renew your membership is to complete the online form and pay by BACS. Please remember that we changed our account to the Bank of Scotland at the start of this year so make sure that you use the new details, which are provided on the online form.

We will continue to monitor the advice from the Scottish Government and RYA Scotland and will advise you of any changes to the arrangements over the coming weeks.

If you have any questions please get in touch and I look forward to seeing you on the water soon.

All the best,

Helen Brown

Sailing on the loch and safety

Some members are going down to the Loch on Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon at present in case others may wish to sail then as well. (We are not meeting)
As folks start to go down again please can they feedback to the club if they feel that we need to do any more with the clubhouse facilities. Towels have been removed and replaced with paper towels, we are waiting for delivery of dispensers, hand sanitisers are in place appropriate notices are up.
The race box has been reassembled without the ceiling and redecoration carried out and we still await the fitting of the new cooker and connection to the external gas supply.
We still have masts in the clubhouse but I see where else to store them unless we take them out to the tattie shed.
Posts have been erected to prevent unauthorised access. The plumbing has been simplified and rerouted and is fully working including the boiler.
The grass is cut but we need a strimmer
Hope to see you soon on the water.
