Sunday 15th June started wild and windy which may have put some off sailing and with a few regulars away only a small fleet of four boats took part in both races.
By the time racing started, however, the North/North Easterly wind had faded to become light but gusty and mean.
Peter Tait and Colin Tannock (Lasers) made the most of the situation to finish first and second in both races, while Aberdeen resident regulars Garry Rucklidge and John Main in their Firefly and Mirror Miracle kept each other company and finished third and fourth in both races. Tuesday 10th June was a bright and windy day, and the evening racing was unusual in that the westerly breeze continued without dropping away as it normally does during this part of the season. The 2 lasers of Malcolm Heron and Graeme Knox benefited from the conditions and soon pulled away from Tony Walkers Enterprise, Tony crewing for Laura Geddes, and the Solo of her mum, Alison Geddes. Gybing was not for the faint hearted and an unfortunate gust tipped the Enterprise at the wrong time whereby it filled with water, however the wind was strong enough to allow the transom flaps to work and it quickly emptied. Graeme, despite leading the fleet, still tried to sail too fast and having foolishly powered up his rig tried to run by the lee and naturally capsized, taking far too long to recover. Malcolm maintained the Laser fleet's dignity by remaining upright and won the race comfortably ahead of Laura and Alison in that order.
There was no racing on Thursday as it was an open/training evening.
Members are reminded to check the sailing programme for the next few weeks when there is racing on Tuesday and open sailing/training on Thursday each week except there is no organised activity during Tay Week commencing on June 21st. This year Colin Tannock, one of Forfar Sailing Club's former Commodores, has organised and is in charge of the event. Several members hope to support him and everyone else is encouraged to attend and have some fun on a different type of water.
